BOSTON, MA – During a virtual campaign event, Congressman Joe Kennedy blamed Senator Ed Markey for failing to lift the Red Sox curse until 2004.
“Then Congressman Markey did absolutely nothing to end the Curse of the Bambino for 28 years until he finally teamed up Jimmy Buffet to host that curse-breaking ceremony that finally ended the dry spell. We need bold, fresh ideas in Washington and politicians who care about baseball,” said Kennedy without specifying exactly what bold, fresh ideas he was referring to.
In response to Kennedy’s comments, Senator Ed Markey reportedly sighed, shook his head, and then went back to drafting legislation to protect the climate, improve the healthcare system, and increase access to affordable housing.
At press time, Kennedy had still not answered how he would have lifted the Sox curse nor had he provided any substantive reasons why he would be better equipped to handle future sports curses.
